Both pathways converge at glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta (GSK3β): In PI3K/AKT pathway, activation of PI3K is required for AKT activation and downstream signaling. PTEN acts as deactivator of PI3K pathway. AKT also phosphorylates and inactivates GSK3β. Meanwhile in WNT signaling GSK3β/Axin complex is required for β-catenin phosphorylation and degradation.
