Figure 2 Diagram of hospital course after the surgery. The patient was discharged after 60 d post-surgery. His stay in the intensive care unit was prolonged for 49 d due to difficulty in weaning from ventilator support, initiated due to pneumonia. He also developed liver and kidney failure. Total bilirubin peaked at post-operative day 13 up to 35.7 mg/dL and serum creatinine was not recovered until discharge.
