Figure 1 Potential mechanisms of mesenchymal stem cell-based therapy for osteoarthritis. Mesenchymal stem cells mitigate oxidative stress, cellular senescence, and apoptosis by restoring dysfunctional mitochondria in chondrocytes, thereby facilitating cartilage regeneration. Exosomes play a pivotal role in mediating the therapeutic effects of mesenchymal stem cells. MSC: Mesenchymal stem cell; ROS: Reactive oxygen species.
