Born in Ontario, Canada, Dr. MARCO ZEPPIERI presently resides in Udine, Italy. He spent his childhood in Canada. In 1992, he attended the University of Toronto in Canada and received a degree in Biology from that institution. The year 2003 was the year that he graduated from the University of Milan-Bicocca in Italy with a degree in Medicine and Surgery. The following year, in 2007, he graduated from the University of Udine with a Certificate of Specialization in Ophthalmology. He graduated with a doctoral degree from the University of Udine in 2012. A Post Doctoral Glaucoma Research Fellowship was also awarded to him in 2006 by Discoveries In Sight, Devers Eye Institute, which is located in Portland, Oregon, United States of America. 2018 was the year that he was able to get his National Qualifications as a University Professor at the 2nd level. This individual has been employed as an ophthalmologist at the Department of Ophthalmology at the University Hospital in Udine, Italy, from January 2008. He has received a number of prizes, including the AIGS Travel Grant (2007), the ARVO GB Bietti Foundation for Ophthalmology Travel Grant (2007), and the Best Video SOI (2004) award. His scientific interests include the development of innovative methods for the morphological and functional diagnosis of ocular hypertension and glaucoma, the application of stem cells for the treatment of corneal wound lesions, diagnostics and treatments for ocular surface and lid conditions, and community-based screening approaches. He has been invited to speak at a number of ophthalmology conferences, both nationally and internationally, and he has participated in such conferences. He is a Reviewer for a large number of international journals that are subject to peer review. Over two hundred of his scholarly papers have been indexed in major scientific journals, and he has also written book chapters that have been cited on PubMed.
