Dr. Shama Prasada Kabekkodu obtained his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology and Masters’s in Biosciences from Mangalore University, Karnataka, India. He completed his Doctoral Degree in Cancer Epigenetics from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, India. Currently, he is working as a professor and Head at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, Manipal School of Life Sciences, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, India. He has 14 years of teaching and research experience. He has published 140 articles and 7 conference proceedings in peer-reviewed international journals. He has published 3 patents, edited 1 book, 11 book chapters, and 2 general articles. Dr.Kabekkodu research specifically focuses on includes (i) identification and characterization of DNA methylation-regulated genes in cervical cancer, (ii) deciphering the mechanism by which DOC2B and chromosome 14 miRNA cluster act as a tumor suppressor in cervical cancer, (iii) exposomics of Bisphenol-A and (iv) metabolic reprogramming and metastasis. He received research funding from various funding agencies from India.
