Oleh Andrukhov received his PhD in the field of Biophysics in 2002 at Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology, National Academy of Sciences, Ukraine. From 2002 until 2008, he worked as a postdoc at the University of Salzburg, where he obtained habilitation in the field of cell and molecular biology. Since 2008, Oleh Andrukhov works at the University Clinic of Dentistry, Medical University of Vienna. His major research interest is studying the homeostasis of periodontal tissue at cellular and molecular levels. His research covers all aspects of periodontal health, disease and regeneration, which are investigated using modern clinical and in vitro approaches. Particular topics are the inflammatory response in periodontitis, regenerative and immunomodulatory roles of dental mesenchymal stem cells and effects of dental implant surface properties on the cell response. The major aim of Oleh Andrukhov as a researcher is to build connections between laboratory in vitro research and clinical research. Currently, he is Associate Professor and group leader at the Division of Conservative Dentistry and Periodontology, Medical University of Vienna.
