I received my medical degree from the University of Istanbul- Istanbul Faculty of Medicine and I completed my general surgery residency in Istanbul. I got my Turkish General Surgery Board Certificate in 2005 (Recertification in 2015). I subsequently underwent training in transplantation at Memorial Sisli Hospital in Istanbul. I became an attending Transplant and Hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) Surgeon at the same hospital upon completion of my training. I started to work at the University of Wisconsin as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Surgery with the State of Wisconsin DSPS-Medicine and Surgery Certificate to continue academic activities related to living liver donation and transplantation. In particular, I have been instrumental in the restructuring of the living donor liver transplant program of the UW and have provided mentoring and training to fellows and staff. After January 2015, I started to work again as a Transplant and HPB Surgeon at Memorial Sisli Hospital and continue to work as a part-time Clinical Assistant Professor (Faculty) at UW -living donor liver transplant program. I became an Associate Professor of Surgery in Turkey in March 2018. I became the Vice-Chair of the Liver Transplantation Program at Memorial Sisli Hospital in May 2018. In September 2018, I started work as a full-time Assistant Professor (CHS) at UW/USA. Starting in March 2021, I started to work a full-time Assistant Professor at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Abdominal Transplant Center in Chicago, IL, US. I became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) in 2015. I am a member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS), The Transplantation Society (TTS), International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS), European Society of Surgery, and Turkish Surgical Ass. Turkish Transplantation Centers Coordination Ass., Turkish Liver Transplantation Society, Turkish Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery Ass. I am an Editorial Board Member of an international open-access journal and also I am one of the reviewers of 9 international and 1 national journal.
