I am Dr. Fares Al-Shargie, holding a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Currently, I serve as a Research Associate II at Rutgers University in the United States, following my role as an Assistant Professor at Abu Dhabi University, UAE. My research focuses on biomedical engineering and neuroscience, particularly in mental stress assessment and Rehabilitation using neuroimaging techniques. My research focuses on applying advanced signal processing techniques and artificial intelligence to assess mental stress and cognitive functions using neuroimaging methods like EEG and fNIRS. As the PI on several funded projects, I've established a foundation for stress assessment research in various contexts, including workplace and space-relevant environments. My work has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed publications and awards. M.Sc. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Technical University of Malaysia (UTeM) (2011-2013). B.Sc. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Multimedia University, Malaysia. Professional Experience: Dr. Al-Shargie has held positions as a Research Associate, Visiting Scholar, Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow, and Assistant Professor at various institutions including Rutgers University, American University of Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi University. I have Published more 75 Article with 1750 citations and 19 H-index. I have reviewed more than 100 research paper and edited more than 20 papers in various journals. Dr. Fares Al-Shargie is a multidisciplinary researcher specializing in biomedical engineering, neuroscience, and advanced signal processing, with a focus on neuroimaging techniques. His research interests encompass mental stress assessment using EEG and fNIRS, application of AI and machine learning in biomedical fields, and data fusion of multiple neuroimaging modalities. Dr. Al-Shargie is developing novel approaches for emotion recognition, cognitive enhancement, and mental health monitoring, while exploring the effects of multisensory stimulation on brain function. His work extends to investigating brain function in extreme environments, such as space missions. Professionally, Dr. Al-Shargie aims to advance neuroimaging applications in mental health, contribute to space research for astronaut well-being, mentor future researchers, pursue interdisciplinary collaborations in brain science, and develop innovative non-invasive brain stimulation technologies. His diverse expertise and forward-thinking research goals position him at the forefront of neurotechnology and its practical applications in various challenging environments. Dr. Fares Al-Shargie demonstrates a diverse skill set and expertise in biomedical engineering and neuroscience. His leadership and mentoring abilities are evident through his supervision of students and training of visiting scholars and astronauts.
