Prof. Semir Özdemir has been working as a senior researcher and group leader in the cardiac cellular electrophysiology laboratory at Akdeniz University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biophysics since 2016. Our research focuses on understanding the etiology of cardiac pathologies in experimental animal models and discovering new therapeutic agents for the treatment of the dysfunctions they cause in the heart. For this purpose, experimental models such as diabetes, hypertrophy, hypertension, etc. are developed in mice and rats, and then in vivo and in vitro experiments are performed. Experiments mostly include the examination of ion channel currents, intracellular ion regulation, and measurement of cellular proteins associated with them. So far, I have published more than 40 research articles and 1 book chapter in internationally refereed journals since 2002. I have served as a referee in many international high-impact journals and am currently an associate editor in a SCI journal. My publications have been cited around 1600 times and my h-index is 22. I think I have reviewed over 200 articles throughout my academic career. I have also evaluated many projects. First of all, I focused on understanding the causes of heart diseases and finding effective therapies for them. For this purpose, I worked in different research laboratories and gained experience. Then I established my own laboratory and together with my lab team, we have achieved striking studies in a short time and we aim to improve this achievement. Good. Reading, travel, listening music.
