Dr. Qian is a Professor of Physiology at Hangzhou Medical College, Hangzhou, China. Dr. Qian’s research focuses on the examination of molecular and cellular mechanisms of cardiovascular impairments in animal models of diabetes, sepsis and other oxidative and inflammatory diseases. He found that the crosstalk between sestrin2 and Nrf2 is defective in the diabetic heart and may be a target for preventing diabetic cardiovascular complications. Other studies at his lab examine the role of mitophagy and pyroptosis in cardiac dysfunction in comorbidity, such as sepsis or chemotherapy medicine. Dr. Qian has served on the grant review panels at the NSFC. He is author and co-author of more than 60 publications including peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. He is the director member of Association of Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine in Zhejiang Province. Dr. Qian has peer-reviewed more than 20 manuscripts for academic journals, such as Food & Function, Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Phytomedicine, Phytotherapy Research, Biomed Pharmacother, etc. Dr. Qian's long-term research goal is to develop phytotherapy targets for cardiovascular impairments in diabetes, sepsis and other oxidative stress and inflammation diseases. Dr. Qian has supervised the research projects of 4 MSc and is currently supervising the research projects of 4 Master students. He hopes to collaborate in cardiovascular research.
