Xiao-Hong Li, PhD, Senior Researcher, the Deputy Director of National Center of Birth Defects Monitoring of China, West China Second Hospital of Sichuan University. My research interest is epidemiology of birth defects, including the disease burden, environmental risk factors, and the prognosis of birth defects. Congenital heart disease is the most common birth defect, posing a serious threat to children's health. In the last decade, I have conducted a series of studies on the association between maternal environmental tobacco exposure, air pollution, heavy metal exposure, HBV infection, and congenital heart disease in offspring, aiming to provide a basis for the prevention and etiology research of congenital heart disease. I have published over 30 articles as the first or co-first author or corresponding author, some of which have been published in Lancet, Lancet Regional Health, Jama network open, and the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. I have an H-index of 35 in the ResearchGate. Additionally, I am a member of the Congenital Heart Disease Professional Committee of the National Cardiovascular Disease Commission, a member of the Youth Committee of the Birth Defects Prevention and Control Special Committee of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association. As an external reviewer, I have reviewed more than 10 manuscripts. As an academic editor of PLOS ONE, I have evaluated 14 academic papers in the past three years. In my career, I have mainly focused on epidemiological research on birth defects, especially congenital heart disease, including disease burden, non genetic risk factors, etc. My professional skills include clinical research design, statistical methods, and causal inference. Swimming and traveling are my personal hobbies.
