My name is Wengen Zhu, and I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine. I am currently serving as an Associate Scientist and Cardiologist at the Department of Cardiology, First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China. As an Associate Scientist and Cardiologist, I am dedicated to unraveling the intricate regulatory mechanisms of calcium homeostasis in cardiac health and disease, with a particular focus on heart failure and atrial fibrillation. My research leverages a blend of cutting-edge techniques, such as wedge and Langendorff for cardiac myocyte dissociation, surface ECG for heart electrical properties, and confocal microscopy for calcium handling analysis. What sets me apart is my unique approach to cardiovascular epidemiology, utilizing 'big data' and epidemiological observations to generate hypotheses and inform clinical studies, thereby enhancing the management of prevalent cardiovascular diseases. My work has been recognized through various publications, editorial roles, and as a manuscript review expert, distinguishing me as a leader in translating scientific insights into clinical practice. Throughout my career, I have made significant academic contributions, authoring numerous articles as the first or corresponding author in prestigious journals, including "ESC Heart Fail," "THROMB HAEMOSTASIS," and "CIRCULATION." My work has been presented at various international conferences, highlighting the impact of my research on the global scientific community. With a substantial number of citations, my Google Scholar H-index reflects the influence of my publications in the field. I have been honored with several awards that underscore my commitment to excellence in cardiovascular research. My memberships in professional societies, such as the Guangdong Pharmacological Society, further demonstrate my engagement with the scientific community and my dedication to advancing our understanding of cardiology. https://scholar.google.com.hk/citations?user=bXdmxC8AAAAJ&hl=zh-CN&oi=ao number of citations(2474), Google Scholar's H-index (25). I have actively participated in the academic community by peer reviewing manuscripts for a variety of esteemed journals, including "EClinicalMedicine," "Heart," and "Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine," among others. My peer review work has involved an extensive number of submissions, ensuring the quality and integrity of published research. Furthermore, I have contributed editorials to academic journals, providing critical insights and perspectives on current issues and trends in cardiovascular medicine. My service as a guest editor for special issues in "Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine" and "Biomedicines" and my role as a review editor on the editorial boards of "Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine" and "Frontiers in Stroke" highlight my dedication to advancing the field through editorial work and collaborative efforts with fellow researchers and practitioners. My personal and professional aspirations are deeply rooted in the pursuit of innovative cardiovascular research, with a long-term focus on understanding and improving the outcomes for patients with heart failure and atrial fibrillation. I aim to continue making strides in deciphering the complex interplay of calcium signaling in cardiac cells and its implications for arrhythmogenesis. Additionally, I am committed to leveraging epidemiological data to identify and mitigate risk factors associated with cardiovascular diseases, thereby contributing to more effective prevention and treatment strategies. My goal is to integrate bench-to-bedside research, fostering collaborations that enhance clinical practice and ultimately improve patient care. My distinctive professional skills encompass a range of competencies that are vital in both research and clinical settings. I possess strong active listening skills, which enable me to understand and address the needs of patients and colleagues effectively. My communication skills are honed for clarity and empathy, facilitating the dissemination of complex medical information in an accessible manner.
