Dr. Ibrahim Uygun is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, Diyarbakir, Turkey. He graduated from Istanbul University (MD, in 1993) and Marmara University (Pediatric Surgeon, in 2004), Istanbul, Turkey. He worked at Kutahya Evliya Celebi State Hospital as Pediatric Surgeon and as the Head Doctor for five years. He has been working at Dicle University since 2009. He enhanced his experience at Sick Kids Children Hospital, Toronto University, Canada. He is a member of the European Paediatric Surgeons' Association and Turkish Association of Pediatric Surgeons. He has closely directed many clinical studies for caustic ingestion treatment, long-gap esophageal atresia, trauma, vascular access and single port laparoscopy. He is especially interested in esophageal surgery (caustic esophagitis, esophageal atresia, achalasia). His research interests are total esophageal transplantation and magnetic surgery. He has published several articles in both international and national journals, and presented several presentations in international and national congresses. Dr. Uygun has received some awards namely two Certificates of High Achievement by two Governors and Award of the Association of Turkish State Hospitals and Patient Relief.
