Dr. Anil Agarwal after graduating from Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) under Delhi University, completed his post-graduation in Surgery from Safdarjung Hospital and MCh from GB Pant Hospital & MAMC. He received training in Hepato Pancreato Biliary (HPB) surgery and Liver Transplant from the Royal Free Hospital & UCL college, London. He joined the department of GI Surgery at GB Pant Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (GIPMER) in 1993 and has been heading the department since 2003. Dr. Agarwal has received numerous fellowships and awards which include ‘BOYSCAST’ fellowship of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, Commonwealth fellowship, UK. His other awards include, Honorary FRCS England (ad enudem), Delhi state award, Times Achiever award in the ‘Legends’ category, Fellowship of American College of Surgeons, ‘DMA Vishisht Chikitsa’ award. He has been selected for the prestigious ‘Dr BC Roy award’ in the ‘Eminent Medical Teacher’ category. Dr. Agarwal has published over 100 key research articles in national & international journals of repute and written several chapters in books including the reputed Blumgart’s textbook of Hepato Pancreato Biliary Surgery.
