Dr. Leonardo Solaini graduated at the University Campus Biomedico of Rome in 2009. He trained in General Surgery at the University Hospital in Brescia, Italy. In 2014 Dr. Solaini completed a 18-months Clinical Research fellowship at Barts Cancer Institute, (Queen Mary University of London) and Barts and the London HPB Centre (Royal London Hospital, UK). In 2016 He was awarded with “EYSAC research fellowship” by the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) to attend the Department of Surgery at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam. In September 2018 he was awarded the Italian National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor in General Surgery. Currently, in addition to his clinical duties at the Department of Surgery at Morgagni-Pierantoni Hospital in Forlì (Italy), Dr. Solaini is Research Associate for the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences (DIMEC) at University of Bologna. His main research interests are in the field of surgical oncology of colorectal, gastric and pancreatic cancer. Recently, his research projects have been focused on Upper and Lower GI minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) surgery. He is active member of the Italian Research Group for Gastric Cancer (GIRCG), the Italian Society of Surgical Oncology (SICO), and the European Society of Surgical Oncology.
