Dr. Piotr Kalinowski is an Associate Professor at the Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery, Medical University of Warsaw, Poland. Dr Kalinowski undertook his postgraduate training at the Central Teaching Hospital of the Medical University of Warsaw and has been an Attending Physician at the Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery since 2004. After completion of doctoral research fellowship at the Medical University of Warsaw under the supervision of Professor Rafał Paluszkiewicz, Dr. Kalinowski defended his PhD thesis and obtained the degree in 2011. He became a lecturer and then an Assistant Professor of Medical University of Warsaw. He completed a fellowship in laparoscopic liver sugery funded by the European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons at the Intervention Center, Oslo University Hospital Rikshospitalet under the supervision of Professor Bjorn Edwin. Dr Kalinowski is a reviewer of several scientific journals, and has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles. His ongoing research interests are metabolomics of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in surgery and transplantation, liver function in surgery and transplantation, adult liver transplantation, laparoscopic liver surgery and laparoscopic metabolic surgery.
