Dr. Jun Tie is a distinguished professor in the Xijing Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University, China. He is the director of the Department of Liver Diseases and Digestive Interventional Radiology, Xijing Hospital. His ongoing research interests are interventional treatment for gastrointestinal diseases such as liver cirrhosis, portal hypertension, obstructive jaundice, liver cancer, and liver metastases. We have pioneered the study of the role and mechanisms of non-coding RNA in gastric cancer metastasis. We discovered the Slit-miR-218-Robo signaling pathway and revealed its function. The research findings were published in the journal PLoS Genetics (Jun Tie, et al. PLoS Genetics, 2010, 6:e1000879.). These research results have been independently validated by several laboratories both domestically and internationally using different cellular models. We first reported a case of refractory ascites caused by secondary polycythemia in osteopetrosis [J Clin Transl Hepatol 2023;11 (4): 987-990.]. We proposed the indications and technical standards for transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) in patients with complete portal vein thrombosis and cavernous transformation [Hepatol Int 2023;17 (4): 979-988.]. For the first time, our research confirmed that TIPS surgery can reduce the mortality risk in patients with hepatic hydrothorax [Eur Radiol 2023;33 (5): 3407-3415.]. We proposed the “Xijing strategy” for the treatment of portal vein thrombosis in liver cirrhosis, which has shown better efficacy and safety compared to international peers [J Clin Transl Hepatol 2023;11 (4): 809-816.]. We led the development of the “Expert Consensus on Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt for the Treatment of Portal Hypertension via the Jugular Vein (2022 Edition)” formulated by the Chinese Society of Gastroenterology, Chinese Medical Association.
