Nobuyuki Takemura M.D., Ph.D., FACS. Professor, Department of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery and Pediatric Surgery, Saitama Medical Center, Saitama Medical University. As a hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgeon, I have continuously conducted clinical research on hepatocellular carcinoma, metastatic liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, and biliary tract cancer for over 20 years at the University of Tokyo Hospital, Cancer Institute Hospital Ariake, National Center for Global Health and Medicine. I have authored or co-authored about 150 papers in scientific journals, of which 17 as first author and more than 50 as corresponding author, with a Google Scholar's H-index of 19. I am a member of the Japanese Surgical Society, the Japanese Society of Gastroenterological Surgery, the Japanese Society of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, the Japanese Society of Endoscopic Surgery, the Japanese Society of Hepatology, the Japanese Society of Pancreatology, the Japanese Society of Portal Hypertension, the Japanese Society of Clinical Surgery, the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology, IHPBA and Fellowship of the American College of Surgeon. I have reviewed more than 200 articles and contributed several editorials to academic journals. My future goals are to train excellent hepatobiliary surgeons with a research mindset, to explore curative strategies combining anticancer drugs and surgery for highly advanced hepatobiliary malignancies, and to further apply the ICG fluorescence method to hepatobiliary surgery. I am skilled at optimizing staffing and training young surgeons, developing organizations through coaching, and reducing the workload of surgeons, especially hepatobiliary surgeons, who are often overworked, based on my past and current experience in my own organizations. My lifelong sport is kendo, and I hold the title of 6th dan, and I am currently training for my 7th dan.
