After completing his medical education from the NSCB Medical College, Jabalpur, MP, Dr Gupta completed General Surgery residency from the LNJP Hospital and Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, and GI Surgery fellowship (MCh) from the Gobind Ballabh Pant Hospital, New Delhi. Thereafter, he underwent training in advanced laparoscopic digestive and hepato-biliary surgery at the Institut Mutualiste Montsouris, University of Paris, France. Earlier, he was a Professor of Surgical Gastroenterology at the King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, UP, India, where he served as faculty for more than a decade. Dr Gupta has been awarded the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) fellowship, the Fujii Scholarship of the Chiba University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract - Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology (SSAT-IASG) traveling fellowship to USA, Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and the International Guest Scholarship of the American College of Surgeons, USA. Dr Gupta's interest areas include GI & HPB surgery with special interest in safe cholecystectomy, management and prevention of biliary injury, pancreatic and foregut diseases, GI oncology, and surgical education.
