Eva Lieto, Associated Professor of Surgery, is working in the Division of GI tract Surgical Oncology of Campania University from 2001. She has been involved, both as first and second operator, in more than 2500 main surgical operations for the treatment of abdominal oncologic diseases, including colorectal, gastric, pancreatic and hepato-biliary tumors.   She is professor of Surgery, member of the PhD College of Traslational Medicine and Chairman of the degree course of Nursing as well. She is also member of Italian Society of Surgery and participates to several congresses as a speaker.  Research about prognostic factors affecting colorectal and gastric cancer is her main field of interest, with several publications in the last years. Particularly, prof. Lieto investigates the impact of host immunological and inflammatory status on cancer microenvironment and, consequently, on the surgical outcome. She published many printer works about the role of lymphocytes and monocytes, and their ratio, and worked out a prognostic score (Naples Prognostic  Score) able to predict colorectal cancer patients survival.  Moreover, prof. Lieto published about the role of the surgical technique in affecting prognosis in gastric and colorectal cancer patients undergoing curative surgery.  In the last years, guided-surgery, particularly with the use of indocyanine green probe, is a her field of interest concerning its impact on cytoreductive surgery in peritoneal carcinomatosis and in detecting primary and metastatic liver tumors that may escape from conventional imaging techniques.After all, Her h-index is 28 with 2699 citations (Scopus).
