My name is Aleix Martínez-Pérez, I obtained a degree in Medicine from the University of Valencia. Later I obtained a PhD in clinical-surgical sciences at the Miguel Hernández University in Elche. I currently work as a colorectal surgeon at the Doctor Peset University Hospital in Valencia, and as a senior researcher at the International University of Valencia. As an educator and researcher in the field of surgery, my academic focus is centered on advancing clinical knowledge and outcomes through rigorous research methodology and statistical analysis. With two master's degrees in Clinical Research and Biostatistics, I am currently involved in designing and leading multi-center studies that seek to address pressing questions in surgical practice and patient care. My expertise in research methodology allows me to guide students and peers in the creation and execution of robust clinical studies. I am particularly skilled in systematic reviews and meta-analyses, which have enabled me to synthesize evidence from diverse studies and inform clinical guidelines with precision and clarity. Beyond study design, I specialize in applying advanced statistical techniques, including regression and survival analysis, to interpret complex clinical data. This skill set differentiates me from others in my field, as I can seamlessly bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical, data-driven conclusions that directly impact surgical practice. My goal is to foster a generation of surgeons who are as proficient in research as they are in surgery, ensuring evidence-based advancements that improve patient care. I have made significant contributions to the academic and clinical research communities, particularly in the field of surgery. As a co-author of 71 scientific publications indexed in the Web of Science, my research spans various high-impact journals, with 29 of these publications in first-quartile journals and 19 in second-quartile journals. I have served as the first or corresponding author for 25 papers. I have delivered six presentations at international academic conferences, sharing insights into surgical techniques, clinical research designs, and biostatistical applications. My work has garnered significant academic recognition, reflected by an H-index of 22 and a total of 2,329 citations, indicating the sustained influence and impact of my research. I am an active member of several professional societies, including the Scientific Committee of my hospital, the Valencian Society of Surgery, the Spanish Society of Coloproctology, and the Spanish Society of Surgery. Additionally, I serve on the Board of Directors for the World Society of Emergency Surgery, where I collaborate with leading experts to shape the future of global emergency surgical care. In addition to my own research contributions, I have actively participated in the academic peer review process, having reviewed a total of 49 manuscripts for prominent journals. These include Annals of Surgery, Colorectal Disease, International Journal of Colorectal Disease, Techniques in Coloproctology, Scientific Reports, World Journal of Gastroenterology, and World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery. This work has allowed me to engage critically with a broad spectrum of cutting-edge research, ensuring the rigor and quality of studies published in these fields. My personal and professional goals are centered around advancing the field of colorectal surgery through innovative research and education. I aim to deepen our understanding of surgical techniques and patient outcomes by leading high-impact, multi-center studies that address critical challenges in surgical practice. Long-term, my research will focus on integrating advanced statistical methods and data analytics to enhance clinical decision-making and patient care. I am particularly interested in exploring new approaches to minimally invasive surgery, improving post-operative recovery, and optimizing treatment protocols through evidence-based guidelines.
