I am Dr AJAZ AHMAD RATHER, working as Professor & Head ,Department of Surgery SKIMSA medical College Srinagar Kashmir for last 12 years' have done Masters in Surgery( M.S) in 2003,FRCS (Edn.)2021) have also qualified Colo-Rectal Fellowship exam (FACRSI),conducted by Association of Colorectal Surgeons of India in 2010. I do Basic and advanced laparoscopic Procedures in General surgery, Urology Upper G.I and Colorectal surgery. I do Hepato-Biliary surgery as well. I have the responsibility of monitoring all the clinical and academic activities in the department and to supervise work of all the staff. I have to look after the affairs of the department, its day to day clinical, academic and administrative matters\ Clinical teaching research Unit with vast variety and latest surgical techniques being performed, with myself as a team leader till date. All these years I have had the responsibility providing leadership towards the achievement of the highest possible level of excellence in clinical, teaching and research activities of the department.  I would work to make my department as super speciality centre especially in neuro surgery and cardiovascular surgery. I would also try to persuade the higher authorities for establishing a trauma centre which is the need of hour, keeping in view the location of the hospital on national highway and equidistant from seven districts of valley.  I in the capacity of Member of Academic Council introduced various faculty development programmes which brought evident changes in the department Viz -mandatory for faculty to attend conferences, seminars/symposia and presentation in conferences and their promotion and progress based on Annual CME points obtained attendance of skill based courses for advanced lap procedures on cadavers. I am responsible for departmental meetings on various issues including clinical, ethical, surgical academic and statistics.  As a member of medical board am involved in administrative duties which involves certification, opinion and advice.
