Core Tip

Core Tip: Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a major cause of nonhealing ulcers, lower limb amputation and mortality, especially in people with diabetes. This article reviews the impact of PAD in diabetes, its traditional and non-traditional risk factors, and pathophysiology, and examines some recent innovations in its management.
