Figure 1 Steps in construction of the intraperitoneal isoperistaltic side-to-side anastomosis combined with hand-sewn common opening. A: Dissect the colon approximately 10 cm distal to the tumor; B: Dissect the ileum approximately 15 cm proximal to the tumor; C: Place the specimen in a bag; D: Small hole 8 cm from the severed end of the colon on the opposite side of the mesenteric rim; E: Disinfect small holes in the colon; F: Small hole 2 cm from the severed end of the ileum on the opposite side of the mesenteric rim; G: Sterilize small holes in the ileum; H: Using a 60-mm linear cutting stapler to perform an isoperistaltic side-to-side anastomosis; I and J: Mid-point suture to close the common opening; K: Close the mesenteric fissure.
