Andreia Albuquerque MD PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences Fernando Pessoa University and Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Gastroenterology Department, Fernando Pessoa Teaching Hospital, Portugal. She has a special interest on early detection and anal cancer prevention, inflammatory bowel disease and Neurogastroenterology (pelvic floor). She has work as an IBD Senior Fellow and Locum Consultant at St. James's University Hospital (Leeds). In 2019, she completed a PhD on anal precancerous lesions, focusing on biomarkers and epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, Portugal (PhD Medicine and Molecular Oncology). She currently has 76 publications (54 publications as first author), including as first author of papers on anal precancerous lesions that were published in The Lancet Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Journal of Crohn’s and Colitis, The American Journal of Gastroenterology, Clinical Infectious Diseases, British Journal of Cancer and the International Journal of Cancer. She was a member of the 2021 European Crohn’s and Colitis Organization Guidelines on the Management and Prevention of Opportunistic Infections and the International Continence Society Committee on male anorectal dysfunction terminology. She is currently a member of the research group RISE@CI-IPO (Health Research Network), Portuguese Oncology Institute of Porto (IPO-Porto), Porto, Portugal. She is a Board member of the International Papillomavirus Society, a member of IPVS Early Career Working Group and a member of IPVS Social Media Task Force.
