Abstract
BACKGROUND Liver cancer is a complex disease that presents many challenges in its diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. It's mortality rate in the United States is a significant and warrants attention. OBJECTIVE To assess the trend of mortality rate due to HCC in the US from 1999 to 2020 by demographic groups for differences in trend of mortality. METHODS We used the CDC wonder database to collect mortality rate data due to HCC as a multiple cause of death in the US from 1999 to 2020 by sex, race, age, and state of residence. The SEER Joinpoint program was used to calculate trends, defined as average annual percent change (AAPC) and to identify disparities between groups. All age-adjusted rates (AAMR) are reported per 100,000. RESULTS From 1999 to 2020, we found that women observed an uptrend (AAPC1.6%) and men observed a slightly higher uptrend in mortality (AAPC 1.8%). In addition, AI/AN population had a significant uptrend (AAPC 2.3%). The AAPI population observed a downtrend (AAPC -2.6%). The Black or African American population observed an uptrend (AAPC 1.8%) The white population also observed an uptrend (AAPC 2.2%). In the 2010 to 2020 time period, Mississippi had the lowest AAMR of any state with 15.2, while Hawaii had with the highest with 38.8. CONCLUSION This investigation assesses mortality rates and trends due to HCC cancer in the US and found significant differences in mortality rates and mortality rate trends due to HCC by demographic status in the US. Addressing the disparities in HCC incidence and mortality by race, ethnicity, state, and region, as well as improving access to screening, surveillance, and effective treatments, can reduce the burden of HCC and improve outcomes for patients.

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the 6th most common cancer and the second most common cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. There are currently no universally accepted practice guidelines for the diagnosis of HCC on imaging owing to the regional differences in epidemiology, target population, diagnostic imaging modalities, and staging and transplant eligibility. Currently available regional and national guidelines include those from the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD), the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver, the Japan Society of Hepatology, the Korean Liver Cancer Study Group, Hong Kong, and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network in the United States. India with its large population and a diverse health infrastructure faces challenges unique to its population in diagnosing HCC. Recently, American Association have introduced a Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LIRADS, version 2017, 2018) as an attempt to standardize the acquisition, interpretation, and reporting of liver lesions on imaging and hence improve the coherence between radiologists and clinicians and provide guidance for the management of HCC. The aim of the present consensus was to find a common ground in reporting and interpreting liver lesions pertaining to HCC on imaging keeping LIRADSv2018 in mind.

Abstract
Rapid advances in imaging technology have improved the detection, characterization and staging of colorectal liver metastases, hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma. A variety of imaging modalities are available and play a pivotal role in the work-up of patients, particularly as imaging findings determine resectability. Surgery often represents the only measure that can render long-term survival possible. Imaging is also indispensable for the assessment of responses to neoadjuvant treatment and for the detection of recurrence. At a consensus meeting held in June 2017 in Vienna, Austria, Austrian experts in the fields of surgery and radiology discussed imaging requirements prior to and after hepatic surgery for malignant liver lesions. This consensus was refined by online voting on a total of 47 items. Generally, the degree of consensus was high. The recommendations relate to the type of preferred preoperative imaging modalities, technical settings with respect to computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, use of contrast agents, reporting, postoperative follow-up, and long-term follow-up. Taking local resources into account, these consensus recommendations can be implemented in daily clinical practice at specialized centers as well as outpatient diagnostic institutes in Austria.

Abstract
Hepatitis C virus represents one of the rising causes of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Although the early diagnosis of HCC is vital for successful curative treatment, the majority of lesions are diagnosed in an irredeemable phase. This work deals with a comparative ultrastructural study of experimentally gradually induced HCC, surgically resected HCC, and potential premalignant lesions from HCV-infected patients, with the prospect to detect cellular criteria denoting premalignant transformation. Among the main detected pathological changes which are postulated to precede frank HCC: failure of normal hepatocyte regeneration with star shape clonal fragmentation, frequent elucidation of hepatic progenitor cells and Hering canals, hepatocytes of different electron density loaded with small sized rounded monotonous mitochondria, increase junctional complexes bordering bile canaliculi and in between hepatocyte membranes, abundant cellular proteinaceous material with hypertrophied or vesiculated rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER), sequestrated nucleus with proteinaceous granular material or hypertrophied RER, formation of lipolysosomes, large autophagosomes, and micro-vesicular fat deposition. In conclusion, the present work has visualized new hepatocytic division or regenerative process that mimic splitting or clonal fragmentation that occurs in primitive creature. Also, new observations that may be of value or assist in predicting HCC and identifying the appropriate patient for surveillance have been reported. Moreover, it has pointed to the possible malignant potentiality of liver stem/progenitor cells. For reliability, the results can be subjected to cohort longitudinal study.

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignant tumors in China. The Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) staging system is regarded as the gold standard staging system for HCC, classifying HCC as early, intermediate, or advanced. For intermediate HCC, trans-catheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) is recommended as the optimal strategy by the BCLC guideline. This review investigates whether liver resection is better than TACE for intermediate HCC. Based on published studies, we compare the survival benefits and complications of liver resection and TACE for intermediate HCC. We also compare the survival benefits of liver resection in early and intermediate HCC. We find that liver resection can achieve better or at least comparable survival outcomes compared with TACE for intermediate HCC; however, we do not observe a significant difference between liver resection and TACE in terms of safety and morbidity. We conclude that liver resection may improve the short- and long-term survival of carefully selected intermediate HCC patients, and the procedure may be safely performed in the management of intermediate HCC.
