ESCC: esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, UGIC: upper gas-trointestinal cancer. a. Information of smoking status was avail-able from some of subjects, b. Positive family history of UGIC significantly increased the risk to develop ESCC. Age and sex adjusted OR = 4.06 (95%CI = 2.46-6.69), χ² = 49.87, P < 0.0001.
