Kim E. Barrett received her Ph.D. degree from University College London, England, in 1982, and postdoctoral training from the National Institutes of Health, USA. She is currently Professor and Vice-Chair for Research in the Department of Medicine, University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine, and directs an NIH-funded research program that focuses on the mechanisms and regul ation of intestinal electrolyte transport. She has published over 140 original papers, book chapters and review articles, and is the current Editor-in-Chief of American Journal of Physiology-Cell Physiology.
