Digestive Disease Week (DDW) 2012, the world's largest gathering of physicians and researchers in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy, and gastrointestinal surgery, has been held successfully between the 19th and 22nd of May at the Convention Center, San Diego, California, United States.

   Over the 7-day period, almost 15 000 gastroenterologists from around the world attended this great meeting, and many of them gave wonderful poster or oral presentations.

   Professor Lian-Sheng Ma, the President of Baishideng Publishing Group Co., Limited (BPG), attended this meeting and communicated with some experts about BPG’s World Journal of Gastroenterology (WJG) and other World Series Journals (Figure 1). He also browsed and selected 2000 out of 4272 posters and recommended them to the WJG for publication.

Up to now, WJG has received 102 DDW 2012 poster papers. We will select the best 20 DDW 2012 poster papers from the submitted ones, publish them in WJG on August 28, and invite the Editor-in-Chief to write commentaries on them.
