Journal’s Academic Contribution Identifier evaluation process
What is the Academic Contribution Identifier (ACID)? The rapid development of artificial intelligence and deep learning technologies has borne both revolutionary opportunities and distinctive challenges to the digital recording, evaluation, and management of academic contributions. Based on our Reference Citation Analysis system, a unique platform for citation evaluation of biomedical and life science articles, we are able to assign a unique, permanent ACID code and personal website to each scholar, journal, publisher, or research institution. The purpose of the ACID is to provide scholars, journals, publishers or research institutions with a high-quality digital platform to record, evaluate and manage the academic contribution of each article. The benefits of an ACID are threefold, as it facilitates the permanent maintenance and enrichment of journal’s academic record and article citation analysis, provides evidence of journal’s academic contributions, and expands journal’s discoverability and recognition worldwide.
Journal’s ACID Evaluation Process
1 Preliminary Review: Reliability of the journal’s information is evaluated, including Journal title, Journal abbreviation, Journal homepage website, Editorial board members list's URL, Editor(s)-in-chief, Publication model (fully subscription, fully open access, or hybrid), Country/Region of publication, Owner of publication, Owner of publication's URL, First year of publication, Frequency, Other Title(s), eISSN (Electronic), ISSN (Print), Language, DOI, and Category. |
2 Publisher Review: Reliability of the publisher’s information is evaluated, including Affiliation, Publisher country/region, Publisher address, and Publisher website; Contact information for the primary editorial contact and for the submitter of the journal (Name, Email, and Job title); and Production contact for the journal (Name, Email, and Job title). |
3 Current Indexing Status: Reliability of the current indexing status is evaluated, including indexing in NLM ID (U.S. National Library of Medicine), PubMed Central URL, Emerging Sources Citation Index URL, MEDLINE URL, PubMed URL, Science Citation Index Expanded URL, and Scopus URL. |
4 About the Journal: Reliability of the content in "About the Journal" is evaluated, including Statement of peer review policy URL, Statement of publication ethics URL, Guidelines for authors URL, Manuscript submission URL, and Article processing charge URL. |
5 Final Review: Acceptance criteria for current indexing and Journal Article Influence Index (JAII) A: Does the current indexing status meet the criteria accepted by ACID? The current indexing status of a journal includes its indexing in MEDLINE, PubMed, PubMed Central, Science Citation Index Expanded, Emerging Sources Citation Index, Scopus, and Reference Citation Analysis (RCA). B: Does the Journal’s Article Influence Index meet the criteria accepted by ACID? The JAII (Total Citations in RCA ÷ Total Articles = Journal Article Influence Index) of the journal should be 3.0 or above. A journal that is indexed in one or more of the databases MEDLINE, PubMed, PubMed Central, Science Citation Index Expanded, Emerging Sources Citation Index, Scopus, and Reference Citation Analysis (RCA) and has a JAII of 3.0 or above can be accepted and assigned an ACID logo, ACID code, and website. |
6 Release: A journal which is formally accepted will be assigned an ACID logo, ACID code, and personal website. Our team highly recommends journals which have received ACID code and journal website to cite them extensively in their editorial office signatures, and journal homepage website. After the ACID code and website are obtained, a 600 USD annual fee is required from the journal for maintenance expenses.
