In 2016, the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology (WJGO) has published the 9th issue which containing 8 articles contributed by scientists worldwide. Among these comprehensive articles are (1) “Role of targeted therapy in metastatic colorectal cancer”, a Review by Yoshihito Ohhara, MD, et al from the Department of Medical Oncology, Hokkaido University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan; (2) “Association between serum vitamin D levels and gastric cancer: A retrospective chart analysis”, an Original Article by Neil Vyas, MD, et al from Department of Internal Medicine, Elmhurst Hospital Center, United States; and (3) “Delaying surgery after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy improves prognosis of rectal cancer”, an Original Article by Esin Kabul Gürbulak, MD, et al from Department of General Surgery, Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital, Turkey, etc. We invite you to peruse all 8 articles in this issue, as they present the latest research progress/findings and provide insightful comments in gastrointestinal oncology that will guide basic research and clinical practice in these fields.
