In 2016, the World Journal of Gastroenterology(WJG)has published the 33rd issue which containing 20articles including one Frontier, 11 Reviews and eight Original Articles, contributed byscientists worldwide. Among these comprehensive articles are (1) “MicroRNA biomarkers predicting risk, initiation and progression of colorectal cancer”, a Frontier article by  Lynnette R Ferguson, Professor,et al fromDiscipline of Nutrition and Dietetics and Auckland Cancer Society Centre, Faculty of Medical and Health Science, The University of Auckland,New Zealand; (2) “Polyphosphate and associated enzymes as global regulators of stress response and virulence in Campylobacter jejuni”, a Review article by Gireesh Rajashekara, DVM, PhD,et al from 170 Food Animal Health Research Program and Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, College of Veterinary Medicine, The Ohio State University, United States; and (3) “Impact of Helicobacter pylori on the healing process of the gastric barrier”, a Basic Study by Magdalena Chmiela, PhD, Professor, et al from Department of Immunology and Infectious Biology, Institute of Microbiology, Biotechnology and Immunology, Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, University of Łódź, Poland, etc. We invite you to peruse all 20 articles in this issue, as they present the latest research progress/findings and provide insightful comments in gastroenterology and hepatology that will guide basic research and clinical practice in these fields.
