In 2018, the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology (WJGO) has published the 1st issue which containing 7 articles contributed by scientists worldwide. Among these comprehensive articles are (1) “Inflammation-associated microsatellite alterations: Mechanisms and significance in the prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer”, a Review by John M Carethers, BSc, MD, Full Professor, Professor and Chair, et al from Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Internal Medicine, and Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Michigan, United States; and (2) “Impact of duration of adjuvant chemotherapy in radically resected patients with T4bN1-3M0/TxN3bM0 gastric cancer”, an Original Article by Xiao-Tian Zhang, MD, Professor, et al from Laboratory of Carcinogenesis and Translational Research (Ministry of Education), Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology, Peking University Cancer Hospital and Institute, China, etc. We invite you to peruse all 7 articles in this issue, as they present the latest research progress/findings and provide insightful comments in gastrointestinal oncology that will guide basic research and clinical practice in these fields.
