In 2017, the World Journal of Gastroenterology (WJG) has published the 39th issue which containing 15 articles including one Review, one Minireview, 9 Original Articles, three Case Reports and one Letter contributed by scientists worldwide. Among these comprehensive articles are (1) “Less common etiologies of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency”, a review article by Vikesh K Singh, MD, MSc, Associate Professor, et al from Division of Gastroenterology, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, United States; (2) “Radiofrequency ablation for hepatic hemangiomas: A consensus from a Chinese panel of experts”, a minireview article by Wen-Bing Sun, MD, et al from  Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Beijing Chaoyang Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University, China; and (3) “Presence of columnar-lined esophagus is negatively associated with the presence of esophageal varices in Japanese alcoholic men”, an Observational Study by  Akira Yokoyama, MD, PhD, et al from National Hospital Organization Kurihama Medical and Addiction Center, Japan, etc. We invite you to peruse all 15 articles in this issue, as they present the latest research progress/findings and provide insightful comments in gastroenterology and hepatology that will guide basic research and clinical practice in these fields.
