The Oncology has always been my field of interest because of the increasing trend of malignant disease in our country and the new challenges in screening, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. I have finished my specialization in Clinical Oncology and from 2014 I am working as Radiation Oncologist at University Hospital Center Mother Teresa, in Tirana, Albania, which is the reference oncology center in our country. At the same time, I am appointed as a part-time Lecturer of Oncology & Surgery and Protocols in radiotherapy at University of Medicine, Albania. My main interests are gastrointestinal cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer and cancer patient’s quality of life. As a clinical doctor in the Unit of Radiotherapy in the University Clinic of Oncology, I am responsible for the radiotherapy treatment of gastrointestinal cancer and genitourinary cancer. I am also part of the multidisciplinary team of GI and GU cancer. During this period, I have finished my PhD in medicine and I have tried to get as much as possible knowledge and qualifications regarding multidisciplinary cancer treatment and new advances in radiotherapy. I have implemented the IMRT genitourinary and GI tumors, and the most important the SIB IMRT in prostate cancer and esophageal cancer for the first time in our clinic, based on international guideline. Also, I am working to implement a standardized follow up program for cancer patients. My research focus has been related to cancer epidemiology, patients and disease characteristics that impact the treatment outcome and also an important focus was on treatment side effects. I am always interested in clinical research in order to improve and promote evidence-based treatment in my daily work.
