I graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1980. After my specialization, I completed my Gastroenterology education between 1987-1990 by working in the Medical College of Georgia, Florida University Faculty of Medicine, Gastroenterology Department and Nassau Medical University Hospital for about three years. I worked as an observer researcher at the University of Pittsburg Liver Transplant Department and at Charing Cross Hospital in England. I returned to Hacettepe in 1990 and got the title of associate professor the same year. During this period, I had the opportunity to bring many innovations related to my field to my country. In 1995, National Incentive Award was given to me. In 1996, I was promoted to professor at Hacettepe University. I was awarded with Highly Prestigious National Science award in 2007. Throughout my academic life, more than one hundred and fifty researches have been published in internationally respected journals. These works of mine received nearly two thousand citations. I have served as a speaker and session chair in national and international congresses. I was the Head of the Gastroenterology Clinic. I served as the General Secretary of the Organ Transplant Association Congress. I worked as the General Secretary of the Organ Transplant Association, I worked in the Organ Transplant Commission in the Ministry of Health. I still continue my academic career as a faculty member at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine.
