I was born, grew up and went to school in Bavaria, Germany. After Medical School at the Technische Universität München, and a short surgical training at the famous Surgery Department of Professor J.R. Siewert, I went to Switzerland. At the departments of the Professors André Blum and Klaus Gyr, I received my training in internal medicine and gastroenterology. For H. pylori research, I joined for almost two years the group of Harry Mobley in Baltimore, Maryland USA. Back in Switzerland, I became head of endoscopy at the university hospital of Zurich in the department of Professor Michael Fried. The last 4 years I was head of the gastroenterology unit of the Stadtspital Triemli, Zurich, Switzerland. Since July 2021 I am back at the university hostpital Zurich, Clinic of gastroenterology and hepatology, working as a senior consultant. My main interestr is interventiuonal endoscopy and hereditary gastrointestinal diseases, such as FAP and Lynch Syndrome.
