My expertise is on gastric precancerous conditions (i.e. gastric atrophy and intestinal metaplasia) and in particular in endoscopy and the use of electronic chromoendoscopy (i.e. narrow band imaging and blue light imaging) for the diagnosis of precancerous conditions and cancerous lesions of the stomach. Furthermore, I perform endoscopic submucosal dissections (ESD) of early gastric cancers and I'm starting performing ESD in the colon. I completed the ESGE fellowship grant module I and II attending the Gastroenterology department at IPO of Porto under the supervision of Mario Dinis-Ribeiro. During the module I in 2015, as resident, I had the chance to improve my skills on electronic chromoendoscopy and on endoscopic submucosal dissection of early gastric cancer in a fellowship period of 3 months. In 2018/2019, I performed a 6-months period, as module II, in the same department as PhD student, where I improved my technical skills on ESD and electronic chromoendoscopy and I participated to several studies and to the writing of a book chapter. I was selected on 2017 to take part of the ESGE Young Endoscopists (EYE) group and I am a member of the ESGE Research Committee since 2019. I completed on 2019 my PhD with a thesis on “Autoimmune atrophic gastritis: risk of gastric cancer”. During the PhD I published several studies on this focus and I am a co-author of the update of European guidelines on “Management of epithelial precancerous conditions and lesions in the stomach (MAPS II)”. Furthermore, I have been recently selected as co-author for the update of European guidelines on ESD. Actually I am a research fellow in University Sapienza of Rome and my research focus is on gastric precancerous conditions, electronic chromoendoscopy and ESD. Furthermore, I'm developing projects with the use of AI on gastroscopy. I published 33 articles, 1 editorial and 1 book chapter. My h-index is 13.
