Prof. Pak Kin Wong receives his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Currently, Prof. Wong is the Dean of Graduate School and Professor of University of Macau. Besides, Prof. Wong is the representative of Macau S.A.R, in the Board of Directors of the Civil Engineering Laboratory of Macau. Prof. Wong’s current research interests are automotive engineering (AE) and artificial intelligence in medical engineering. His strength is artificial intelligence (AI) in mechanical engineering (ME), specially in AE which is a sub-field of ME. It is noteworthy that in the past, the training of AI for mechanical engineers was not very strong, resulting in limited engagement from scholars in ME in utilizing AI approaches for their research. Despite his background being in ME, he has taken the initiative to pursue an interdisciplinary approach by incorporating AI into ME and exploring its applications. He published his first journal paper on AI in ME in 1996. Prior to that, research on AI in ME was not very active. Due to his involvement in AI research in ME, he has been invited to serve as a guest editor for special issues on the area of intelligent monitoring and diagnosis in ME/machinery in three SCI-E journals, including Advances in Mechanical Engineering, Mathematical Problems in Engineering, and Shock and Vibration. So far, he has published over 362 scientific papers in refereed journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings. In his publications, more than 227 are SCI-E journal papers. As of 30/10/2024, his Google Scholar's H-index is 43. He was also ranked as World's Top 2% Scientists in 2023 and 2024 (by Stanford University). Besides, Prof. Wong is a Fellow of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and Chartered Fellow of Chartered Association of Building Engineers, U.K. Currently, he is the associate editor of Proceedings of IMechE- Part I, Journal of Systems and Control Engineering. Prof. Wong is also the editorial board members of Advances in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicles, International Journal of Automotive Science and Technology, AIMS Bioengineering, and Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging. He reviews approximately 30 papers for different journals per year. Prof. Wong's long-term research is automotive engineering (AE). To date, he has published more than 230 papers related to AE, including 157+ journal papers, 61+ international conference papers, and 12+ book chapters. Many of these papers focus on the application of AI in automotive system control, calibration, automotive engines, diagnostics, and vehicle dynamics control. Recently, prof. Wong has expanded the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to medical engineering starting in 2020. To date, he has published 17 SCI-E journal papers and 3 international conference papers on the application of AI for disease diagnosis and medical robots. In his published SCI-E papers, two were published in World Journal of Gastroenterology. Additionally, he has received 5 related research grants in this area. Prof. Wong has good leadership skills and interpersonal skills. The effectiveness of his leadership is demonstrated by his continuous appointments as a leader position at the University of Macau over the past 14 years. Automotive engineering; Medical research
