CV Mario Navarrete-Arellano, MD Dr. Navarrete Arellano was a Distinguished Professor at the School of Military Medicine and the Graduate School of Military Health at the University of the Mexican Army and Air Force (UMAAF), Mexico. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Escuela Medico Militar, UMAAF, in 1981. Dr. Navarrete Arellano completed his postgraduate training at the Graduate School of Health, and the Central Military Hospital, took specialization and residency courses in Pediatrics and later in Pediatric Surgery. He was Chief of Residents at the Central Military Hospital 1985-986. He was Assistant Physician, Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery, and Head of the Pediatrics Division, from 1990 to 2009 at the Central Military Hospital, Mexico City. In 2010, Dr. Navarrete Arellano was Vice principal of the Regional Military Hospital at Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico and in 2011 and 2012 he was Principal of the same hospital. Later, he returned to the Central Military Hospital as Head of the External Assistance Area during 2013 and Medical Director from 2014 to 2018. Dr. Navarrete Arellano obtained the military rank of General Brigadier in 2015, retiring from active duty in the Mexican army in November 2018. He was a professor at the Military Medical School, and at the Graduate School of Health, UMAAF, for more than 25 years, becoming the holder of the Pediatrics chair (undergraduate) and Head of the specialization and residency courses in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Surgery. He was an advisor on 10 research projects (postgraduate thesis). In 2006-2008, Dr. Navarrete Arellano was President of the Mexican Board of Certification of Pediatric Surgery and is a permanent advisor to this Certification Board. His research interests are pediatric surgery, with a greater emphasis on conventional minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery. Dr. Navarrete Arellano is Reviewer and Editor of the journal: Clinical Pediatrics: Open Access. He is also a member of the editorial board (Executive Editor) of the Journal of Pediatrics Research Reviews & Reports, as well as a reviewer for the following journals: Cirugia y Cirujanos, PeerJ Life and Environmental Sciences, World Journal of Gastroenterology, Artifitial Intelligence in Cancer, and World Journal of Clinical Cases. In addition, is a member of the Editorial Committee of the journal: Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging. He has 6 years of experience in robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery (da Vinci system), and is a proctor of this surgical system. About this topic he has 5 publications.
