Dr. Mohammed Abdel-Megeed Salem is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Media
Engineering and technology, German University in Cairo, GUC. And the Faculty of Computer
and Information Sciences, Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt (on a leave). He received his
B.S. degree in 1997 in Mathematics and Computer Science. In 2002 he received the M.S.
degree in Scientific Computing from the Ain-Shams University in Cairo. In November 2008 he
has received the D.Sc. (doctor of Science) degree from Humboldt-Universität in Berlin,
Germany in Multiresolution Image Segmentation.
Dr. Salem has published a book and over than 70 papers in the fields of image / video
processing and machine learning. Under his supervision, more than 15 Master’s and PhD
students have completed their degrees. He has visited many research institutes and
universities in Germany, England, and Italy as post doctor.
His research interests include: Image and Video computing, Edge Computing for Computer
Vision, Remote Sensing Images, Medical Images, Deep Learning, Pattern Recognition and
Wavelet Transform.
