Graduation at Physiotherapy from Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1987), Master's Degree at Anatomy from Universidade de São Paulo (1994) and PhD at Anatomy from Universidade de São Paulo (USP) (1999). Post-doc Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology of the University of Melbourne / Australia. Associate Professor of the Department of Anatomy/ICB/USP. Honorary Post-dos at University of Melbourne and Visiting Academic of Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology from the University of Melbourne/ Australia. Member of the American Gastroenterological Association. She coordinates the Human Anatomy disciplines for the Physiotherapy and Medicine / FMUSP courses. The research is in the area of the Digestive System, in the enteric nervous system. Evidence indicates that intestinal ischemia / reperfusion and intestinal inflammation affect the enteric nervous system and enteric glia cells. The objective of the laboratory is to study the effects of intestinal inflammation and ischemia / reperfusion in the enteric nervous system and enteric glia cells, related to intestinal motility, intestinal microbiota, purinergic receptors, TNF-alpha receptors and receptors for short chain fatty acids. For this is using immunohistochemical techniques, molecular biology and intestinal motility. Guides students of Scientific Initiation, Master, Master and Post-doctorate.
