Dr. Machado obtained his certification of Physician in Cuba (1997) and then he started the General Pathology Residence Program (during 4 years) at Hermanos Ameijieras Hospital, La Habana with special interest in haematopathology. He was enrolled into the PhD program in 2006 and he worked in the department of pathology, University of Valencia as a doctoral fellow involved in translational research related to molecular biology and immunohistochemical characterization of adult and paediatric soft tissue sarcomas. His doctoral thesis was on immunohistochemical and molecular characterization of a large series of Ewing sarcoma. Dr. Machado, defended his doctoral thesis in May 2010, when he was conferred the degree of PhD. At present, Dr. Machado is working as full pathologist at the Instituto Valenciano de Oncología, Valencia, Spain and his main research topics are tumors of soft tissue and bone, Ewing sarcoma and gastrointestinal pathology.
