Mostafa Mohamed Sira, MD, PhD, Professor of Pediatric Hepatology, Gastroenterology and Nutrition, National Liver Institute, Menoufia University, Egypt. Obtained a medical degree in Egypt, upon his M.B.B.Ch. in 1992 at Cairo University, Egypt, M.Sc. of Pediatrics in 1997, Egypt, M.Sc. of Pediatric Hepatology at National Liver Institute (NLI), Menofiya University, Egypt and Doctor Degree in Pediatrics 2007, Japan. Over the last 30 years, I have focused his scientific interests on topics related to Pediatric Hepatology and Gastroenterology. With his expertise in basic research, I have described a novel molecule "syntenin-1 as" in human colostrum as an IgA class-switching factor in cord blood naïve B lymphocytes. I described human cystatin-C as a potential HCV inhibitory molecule (JPGN, 2012). With my team, I invented a diagnostic score for biliary atresia (J Hepatol, 2014). I trained tens of postgraduate students in Egypt and Japan. I published about 40 SCI journal papers and book chapters, coordinated/participated in several national projects. I was certified in the field of Total QualityManagement for Health care facilities in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA, Japan 2009),. Furthermore, I was certified for Medical statistics from Institute of Statistical Studies and Research, Cairo University, Egypt (2002). I received the Outstanding Merit Award 2009 by International Immunology Journal, Japanese Society of Immunology (JSI), and Outstanding Merit Award of Menofiya University 2014. edited/reviewed for many scientific journals, a member of many scientific societies in Asia and Africa. Currently editorial board member for many high impact Journal like Medicine, WJG and associate editor for Egyptian Liver Journal. participated many letters to the editor in high impacted Journal like American J Gastroenterol and Hepatology J. I am deeply interested in the scope of research concerning liver and GIT disorders in Pediatrics. Currently, I am working on a gene mapping project for metabolic liver disease in Egypt. In addition, focusing on resolving the puzzle of biliary atresia in pediatrics as it is one of the surgical emergencies in the field. I have mentored many postgraduate students in Toyama University, Japan, and in National Liver Institute, Menoufia University. in addition to mentoring and supervising many postgraduate students in master and doctor course studies. I shared in establishing stem cell laboratory (experimental and clinical grade laboratory at National Liver Institute, Menoufia University. My hobbies are reading, swimming and table tennis.
