Editorial Board
Ivana Škrlec is an assistant professor at the Department of Biophysics, Biology, and Chemistry at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek. She graduated from the Faculty of Science, the University of Zagreb, with an MSc degree in Molecular Biology in 2008, conducting experimental research activities. Research activities included laboratory research visits at several foreign institutions, including the Clinical Institute of Medical Genetics, University Medical Centre Ljubljana (Slovenia), the Medical School, University of Pecs (Hungary), etc. She obtained her PhD at the Department of Medical Biology and Genetics focused on cardiogenetics associated with circadian rhythm and teaches at the medical high school, university, and postgraduate doctoral levels. Also, she is the molecular diagnostics specialist, obtained by the postgraduate specialist study of Molecular diagnostics at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry. In addition, she served as a mentor on several diploma theses. She has published a number of scientific papers and contributed two book chapters to cardiovascular-related books. She has actively participated in many international scientific conferences and research projects. Currently, she supervises one project and is the head of the Histology, Genetics, Cellular, and Molecular Biology Laboratory. Her academic research interests include cardiogenetics, genetic epidemiology, circadian rhythm, and research in molecular biology.
