After finnishing MD at Ljubljana University Medical School in 1995, I worked as resident of surgery till 2000, in 2001 I passed Board examination to become certified general surgeon and in 2009 certified abdominal (visceral) surgeon. MSc (1998) and PhD (2003) were done on pancreatic cancer, preoperative diagnostics (MSc) and molecular changes (PhD). In 2006 I was nominated associated professor of surgery at Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Over the last 20 years, I have focused my scientific interest mainly in pancreatic cancer and HPB surgery. From professional surgical view, main interests are pancreatic surgery, liver and pancreas transplantation, minimaly invasive surgery, GI cancer surgery. Since beginning of 2016 I was nominated as Chief of Dept. of Abdominal Surgery, UMC Ljubljana. I have participated/ am particiating in several intenational multicenter trials (Discpact, Chropac-Heidelberg, Diploma - Amsterdam. Rely - Dresden...) on pancreatic diseases and liver metastases. Since 2007 I serve as member of Eurotransplant Pancreas Advisory Board. For many years I take part in Slovenian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, at the beginning as General Secretary for 8 years and in the last period as president of HPB section. Some amount of my activities are associated with endoscopic surgery, being the president of Slovenian Association of Endoscopic Surgery and member of training and education committee of European Association of Endoscopic Surgery.
