In our Department, the Clinic of Glomerular Diseases was established in 2000 and since then more than 5000 patients have been monitored. In 2024, we evaluated 1500 patients with glomerular diseases both for diagnosis and treatment. An active educational program is established for trainees in nephrology and internal medicine with an interest in kidney diseases, with regular meetings with the Department of Histopathology, the Department of Immunology. Our Department participates in randomized clinical trials I studied medicine at the University of Athens and afterwards I was trained in internal medicine at the 5th Department of Medicine and Infectious Diseases Unit of Evangelismos General Hospital of Athens and in nephrology at the University Hospital of Patras. After winning a scholarship from the Hellenic Republic Scholarships Foundation, I studied renal medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and the Pembroke College at the University of Cambridge, UK that led to a Master of Philosophy on gene expression profiling in autoimmune diseases and renal vasculitis. My special interest on renal transplantation was developed since medical school, which was continued in obtaining a PhD from the University of Athens on the impact of BK polyoma virus on renal allograft function. I have published more than 40 articles in important academic journals, with 1708 citations, Google Scholar's H-index: 17 and i10 index: 28. Currently I am member of the European Renal Association, European Society of Organ Transplantation, International Society of Glomerular Diseases, European Vasculitis Society. I have contributed as a reviewer, having peer reviewed more than 200 papers, for the following scientific journals: American Journal of Transplantation, American Journal of Kidney Diseases, Critical Care, Antiviral Research, Journal of Clinical Rheumatology, BMJ Case Reports, International Brazilian Journal of Urology, Iranian Journal of Kidney Diseases and Journal of Endourology. I have served on the Editorial Board of the World Journal of Transplantation (2013-2022). My professional goal is to continue expanding the Department of Glomerular Diseases, with educational purpose and program for our junior doctors, collaborate with other medical specialties for early referral of patients with kidney diseases, participation in international clinical trials and gain access to investigational medicine for our patients with rare kidney diseases. My main interest in clinical and research lies in the fiend of immunology, renal pathology and kidney diseases. I am responsible for the educational program of our trainees and I mentor them to find their interest in nephrology. I have a unique organizing skill that applies to the clinical evaluation and monitoring of the inpatients and the outpatients. I collaborate actively with the University of Athens to promote the MSc and PhD programs. I play the piano regularly, continuing my classical music education and I like hiking with friends and family during the weekends.
