Dr. Jaka is associate Professor in the School of Medicine, Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences(CUHAS), Tanzania. Having received her MD degree from Hubert Kairuki Memorial University currently known as Kairuki University in 2004, Dr. Jaka undertook his postgraduate training at the CUHAS and has been an Attending Physician in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Unit, Department of Internal Medicine since 2009. He became a lecturer of CUHAS in 2010. After endoscopy techniques as well as ultrasound imaging in Würzburg under the instruction of. Prof. Scheppach, Head of the Endoscopy Unit of the Juliusspital and Prof. Scheurlen, Head of the Endoscopy Unit of the University Hospital in Würzburg in 2011. Dr. Jaka did her Masters in Medical Professional Education in Maastricht University, Netherland in 2014. She later returned to CUHAS and Bugando Medical Centre and obtained his PhD degree in 2020. He was promoted to Associate Professor in the School of Medicine, CUHAS in 2024. Her ongoing research interests are Helicobacter Pylori, microbiota, Gastrointestinal Malignancies, viral hepatitis (particularly HBV and HCV), liver cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma and Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Diseases. She is the Board member and Co-Founder of Africa Helicobacter and microbiota study Group and a member of South African Gastroenterology Society. She is a member of the editorial board and a reviewer , and has published more than 70 peer-reviewed articles. Currently, she is the Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, CUHAS and Bugando Medical Centre in Tanzania.
