He has supervised 3 theses, 2 masters and one doctorate, and has been part of the tutorial committee of 8 postgraduate theses, 3 doctorate and 5 master's degrees. His main scientific contributions are based on the characterization of the Mexican genome in relation to the susceptibility to develop liver damage and the glycemic control of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Also, the characterization of the Mexican genome includes the detection of genetic variants that explain the genomic adaptation that the Mexican population had to a traditional diet and its impact on the health status of the population. Additionally, his research focuses on nutrition and precision medicine through a holistic approach for the prevention and effective management of chronic degenerative diseases, integrating areas such as genetics, epigenetics, metagenomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, glycomics, lifestyle and other environmental factors.
