Professor Maurizio Salvadori degreed in Florence by 1968 at the University of Florence. By 1971 became assistant professor at the Renal Unit of Careggi University Hospital in Florence and was nominated Professor of Nephrology at the University of Florence. By 1991, with the beginning of the transplant activity he was nominated chief of the Renal Transplant Department. He specialized in Endocrinology, Clinical Immunology and Nephrology. Over the last 20 years he focused his clinical and scientific interest on new immunosuppressive drugs in transplantation. He took part to several international trials often being the top enroller and the first name in the international published papers. Among these, he studied on enteric coated mycophenolate sodium and FTY 720 both published in the American Journal of Transplantation. Recently he studied on everolimus and the results of this study have been published on Transplantation. Professor Salvadori is author of 827 papers and contributions published on pubmed often in co-operation with international colleagues. He is member of the European Society of Organ Transplantation, of the American Society of Transplantation and of the International Society of Transplantation. Recently was nominated italian member of the team for making new European Guidelines for Kidney Transplantation. The results of this work have been published on the European Journal of Nephrology and Transplantation. He is the person in charge for research on nephrological rare disease for the Tuscany Region. To date is Editor in Chief of World Journal of Transplantation, associated Editor of Journal of Hepatic and Nephrologic disease, Member of the Editorial Boards of Archives of Nephrology, European Medical Journal of Nephrology and of Transplantology
